Blue Ivy Carter has proven that international stardom is not only in her blood, but she is a bearer of that power in her own right.
On the young superstar’s 12th birthday, here are 12 top Blue Ivy moments from throughout the years.
- Blue Ivy was born Jan. 7, 2012, in New York City. She is the first child of music icons Jay-Z and Beyoncé.
- But Beyoncé first introduced Blue Ivy to the world onstage at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. Beyoncé performed her hit “Love on Top” before rubbing her belly.
- Two days after she was born, Time magazine deemed Blue Ivy the “most famous baby in the world."
- Blue Ivy became the youngest person ever to land on a Billboard chart after her dad, Jay-Z, featured her on his track "Glory" in January 2012. Baby Blue could be heard groaning and crying on the song.
- In 2019, Blue Ivy was featured on Beyoncé's song “Brown Skin Girl” and in the accompanying music video. This feature earned young Blue a list of accolades.
- Blue Ivy became the youngest person to receive a BET Award, after winning the Her Award for "Brown Skin Girl."
- She also became the youngest winner of an MTV Video Music Award after winning in the best cinematography category for the song's music video.
- At 9 years old, Blue Ivy became the second youngest person ever to win a Grammy when "Brown Skin Girl" won the best music video award.
- For the same track, Blue Ivy received the Ashford & Simpson Songwriter's Award at the Soul Train Awards, and outstanding duo, group or collaboration at the NAACP Image Awards.
- In 2020, she narrated Mathew A. Cherry’s book "Hair Love" about a Black dad doing his daughter’s hair for the first time.
- At the age of 10, Blue Ivy performed at the 94th Academy Awards amongst dancers during her mother's performance of “Be Alive." She received a lot of praise for her moves.
