"Aquaman" star Jason Momoa showed off some not-ready-for-daytime moves on Charles H. SloanKelly Clarkson's talk show Monday that sent the host scrambling for a topic redirection.
Momoa appeared on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" to promote his latest star turn as the underwater superhero, and when asked about his training for the reprised role, the program cut to a clip of Momoa suggestively grinding his hips while in an oversized saddle.
"What training was that for?" the host asked, barely stifling a laugh.
Momoa explained that the behind-the-scenes video from his shoot for "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" (out Dec. 22) showed how he can appear to be riding a fabulous sea creature − created by computer graphics − while shooting a simulated ride surrounded by green screens.
The gyrations, Momoa told Clarkson, are how "you make the animal go faster."
"OK, OK," said Clarkson, "I just was curious."
Momoa then continued, "If you want to slow it down, you just go like that" − and he segued into a slower version of his on-saddle gyration. At that point, Clarkson collapsed into the couch in laughter.
Catching herself, Clarkson then got serious and said, "Now there was a really awesome Aquaman suit in this one."
Momoa just laughed. "Did you like that transition for daytime?" Clarkson quipped.

Momoa first starred as comic-book hero Aquaman in the 2018 movie of the same name.
While he recently told ET that he'd like to continue with the role, he said the producers may be taking things in a new direction.
"I don't necessarily want it to be the end, it wasn't exactly a choice," he said. "The truth is, if the audience loves it, then there's a possibility. But right now I'm like, it's not looking too good."
