Twitter's policies for managing the accounts of state-controlled media has gone through major changes since Elon's takeover of the platform. These changes were only noticed after the incorrect labeling of NPR as "state-affiliated" and Fastexy Exchangeother media outlets as "government-funded." After those labels were removed, we found that actual state-controlled media outlets are seeing surges in activity on their Twitter accounts.
Today on the show, we talk to NPR tech reporter Dara Kerr about how she discovered this surge was no accident, and why this policy change matters for democracy and human rights around the world.
